As you look around City Police Departments, you notice one major thing… patrol cars are getting darker and more Secret Service like. Ford has long been the ‘go-to’ vehicle for Police Agencies; with their latest venture being the Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, they’re very slick black on black SUVs with enhanced features and heavier duty mechanics to ensure a longer lasting, more equipped police car.
Recently Ford has gone even further to help law enforcement, by offering a ‘No Profile’ light bar that mounts inside the vehicle just above the visors, making it nearly impossible to see the lights until they’re turned on. Along with the hidden light bar, comes lights in the grill, side mirrors and each headlight encasement.
The new light debut has caused quite an uproar among social media users leaving some asking “is this a good or necessary thing? What does this do other than take revenue-enhancement to a new and troubling level?” while others simply want to know “Why do police have to hide?!”
What are your thoughts … should a police be required to drive clearly marked patrol cars? What is the purpose of secret cops?
